Here's another Flint Hydraulics Tech Tip: If there is an alternate flow path for oil to take - a pressure relief valve, for example (not pictured, but situated upstream of the gauge & faucet) - and if the pressure caused by the resistance of the partially closed faucet rises to the pressure setting of the relief valve, then part of the flow from the pump will flow through the faucet, and the rest through the relief valve. If the pressures across the two flow paths are equal, then flow will be split evenly. Half the flow rate will go through the faucet, half through the relief valve.
